In the lead up to Mother's Day I have written a series on Strong Mothers.  This is my final article and today I have chosen musician Zoe Faen.  I photographed Zoe back in January, but have known her for much longer...ever since we attended high school together.  I had not seen her in over 20 years and when I met her on the day of the shoot, one of the first things I said to her was "you haven't changed a bit!"  I think part of that might be due to her spirit and attitude to life and the profession she has chosen as a singer...both as performer and teacher.

Zoe runs her own Music studio - Music Amore - in the suburb of Wahroonga on Sydney's North Shore.  She works both as a professional singer for Weddings & Events as well as teaching singing in her Wahroonga studio.  She teaches children right through to adults.

Music runs in Zoe's blood.  Her Mother was an avid singer, performing in clubs around Sydney and Zoe's grandmother used to sing in traveling shows throughout Australia in the 1940's and 50's, taking Zoe's Mother along for the ride!

Zoe's own love for music and musical theatre began when she was 12 when her parents took her to see ‘Les Miserables’….and she was instantly hooked!   Since then, she has performed in many musicals, cabarets and recitals, including the role of ‘Eponine’ from Les Mis at the Parramatta Riverside Theatre.   However, her favourite recent gig was with her 5-year-old daughter at her preschool - her daughter on the Ukulele and Zoe on the guitar!

Zoe is a very dedicated Mother - an avid reader of books and blogs on parenting - Zoe approaches parenting with passion and enthusiasm.  However, she believes what has helped her the most, is the wisdom she has learned through practicing Yoga and Meditation.  She feels being present, (trying!) to be calm, having a positive outlook and practicing gratitude, compassion and kindness are the pearls of wisdom she hopes to share with her children.

Feel free to view more images of Zoe in the Beauty section of the site. To find out more about Zoe and her music, head on over to her site, Music Amore.
